IT'S NICE TO BE NICE....

Since moving back to NY from Boca Raton, FL in 2010, Scanlon's Traveling Salon became heavily involved in grassroots / outreach efforts with a few different organizations, especially during Super Storm Sandy.  Free haircuts were given to temporary residents at a number of shelters in Nassau County.   Scanlon's also became a staunch supporter  of Community Solidarity, aka Food not Bombs, giving free haircuts to the community residents and FABULOUS VOLUNTEERS during their outdoor food and clothing shares in Nassau and Suffolk.  Most recently connecting with an emergency shelter in Wyandanch, NY during the winter of 2017/2018 offering free hair cuts/washes/colours to the temporary residents within the shelter system (most of whom are working homeless).  Working within these amazing communities has given Scanlon's a clear understanding of empathy.  We now utilize our ability to PAY IT FORWARD, one haircut at a time (wink)...

"Empathy is the starting point for creating a community and taking action.  It's the impetus for creating change."  Max Carver
